6 Ways To Join In With Fashion Revolution Week

Besma Whayeb ·

It's Fashion Revolution Week! Are you thinking about joining in? Well, you're in the right place! As a leading online boutique of pre-loved fashion, here at Reliked we're already supporting a more sustainable, circular fashion industry. Read on to find out how to become a fashion revolutionary, and make the fashion industry more sustainable and fairer for all...

1. Ask Brands #WhoMadeMyClothes

Fashion Revolution is the world's largest fashion activism movement, dedicated to making fashion fair and sustainable for all. The first step to achieving this is through transparency, getting fashion brands to explicitly state who made their clothes, where they source their materials from, and so on. Sadly, the fashion industry isn't as glamorous as you might imagine. Behind closed doors, fashion brands aren't treating people or the planet very well. With brands like Boohoo being accused of modern day slavery (and paying workers below minimum wage in the UK), and even high-end brands like Burberry being caught burning their leftover stock, there's a lot to clean up. So, if you're passionate about supporting a better fashion industry, it's time to act! The first step is simple: ask your favourite fashion brands #WhoMadeMyClothes! Tweet it out, post it on Instagram, or even send a templated email.

2. Ask More Questions...

If you're interested in knowing more about your favourite fashion brands' sustainability principles, it's worth asking a few additional questions. Fashion Revolution promotes transparency, so questions like #WhatsInMyClothes and #WhoMadeMyFabric are equally important. Alongside those, try asking how many collections a brand produces in a year (to tell if they're fast fashion or not), and also how old garment workers are. Shockingly, many high street fashion brands work with garment factories that employ workers aged 14 and up.

3. Join In With Fashion Revolution's Events

As this year’s Fashion Revolution Week is hosted digitally, you can join in any event from literally anywhere! Check out their online events to decide what you’re going to join in with, or head on over to Fashion Revolution's Instagram for live webinars, interviews, and more.

4. Shop Second-Hand More

As you're already here, we can tell you're a second-hand fan. But did you know with every second-hand purchase you make, you're helping to make the fashion industry more sustainable? By keeping clothing in rotation at its highest value, we can reduce the demand for first-hand clothes, and work our way to a more circular economy too. Plus, by shopping on Reliked, you're supporting our charities with every purchase!

5. Style Up Your Wardrobe

Another great way to enjoy fashion without harming people or planet is to rediscover what's already in your wardrobe! By wearing our clothes more, we can also reduce demand for new clothing. Why not spend some time digging out everything hidden at the back of your wardrobe, and find new ways to wear your old favourites? Even better, why not arrange a clothes swap between your family or friends?

6. Learn More About Sustainable Fashion

If you’d like to learn more about sustainable fashion, try doing some research about your favourite fashion brands on these websites: And if you find there's too much greenwashing going on, remember: second-hand is a secret hack for more sustainable fashion!
